Abstract :
As reported by the statistics from the Society of Women Engineering, there are significantly more women in engineering in China than in Europe or the USA, saying, approximately 43 percent of engineers in China are women, and there are also a significant number of women students and professors. How about the situation in microwave engineering in China, especially in Universities? A report extracted from statistics and internet survey will be delivered in the special session, in which the percent of women graduate students and professors will be given. Meanwhile, the possible difficulties and some challenges for the women when choosing the engineering fields will be discussed in the panel session. Through the talk and discussions in this special session, we hope our women students and young female scholars can have more confidences on their current studies and future career development, which is important not only for themselves, but also for their families and social development. Furthermore, with the growing number of women in science and technology, it is thus quite necessary and important for the society to change cultural perceptions on women´s roles, and government to change some policies and laws that promote gender equality. Being half of the populations in the world, the attendance and roles for the women in engineering will definitely contribute a lot for the development of the science and technology in many countries.
