Abstract
A broadband dual-polarized planar antenna element for mobile communication base station is presented in this paper. It is formed by two crossed modified dipoles printed on a substrate and supported upon a reflector by four nylon posts. Simulated and measured bandwidth with VSWR<;1.4 are 49% (1.68-2.77 GHz) and 57% (1.63-2.93 GHz), respectively, within which the polarized isolation is better than 28 dB. It is simple and easy to be fabricated. A 9-element dual-polarized electrical downtilt array is designed. It can realize 2° to 13° electrical downtilt with sidelobe reduced below -16 dB.
