Abstract :
Since the recent explosion of the field of knowledge management (KM), hundreds of papers, conferences, reports, and other forms of communication have been presented on the subject: Some contain very elaborate and sometimes conflicting definitions of KM and related phenomena. The purpose of this paper is not to add to the voluminous definitions, but merely to describe the essential elements so that we may pursue the main purpose-to examine how KM systems may be successfully implemented and used to serve members of the organization
