Abstract
Resource-based view (RVB) of the firm suggests that intangible resources which are rare, valuable, inimitable and scarce are definitely the cornerstone of the sustained competitive advantage. The knowledge-based view of the firm proposes that among all firm´s resources organizational knowledge has become the strategic resource for sustained competitive advantage. Organizational knowledge has become the strategic resource in today´s dynamic competitive environment. Its properties, such as uniqueness, path-dependency, social complexity and others, make it so important for firm´s competitive advantage. Following Bierly and Chakrabarty´s study, the author applies their typology of generic knowledge strategies to the Spanish manufacturing industry. The aim of our empirical research was determining generic knowledge strategies in the Spanish manufacturing industry. Firstly we designed a survey questionnaire covering different areas: organizational knowledge management, organizational learning and organizational performance
