Abstract
Summary form only given. On October 9, 2000, DaimlerChrysler announced the establishment of DCXNET Holding GmbH. The new holding will forge alliances, enter into joint ventures and invest to promote the company´s e-business activities. DCX NET´s mission is to make DaimlerChrysler the first networked automotive company across its entire value chain. By using IT technology, the Internet, DaimlerChrysler tries to extend its market globally while reaching high efficiency and low transaction time thus reducing the costs. The managers of DaimlerChrysler indicate that this newly founded network will be the basis for their future operations. They also say that the e-business area has an enormous potential regarding customers and B2B operations. DaimlerChrysler fully intends to seize and rapidly exploit the enormous competitive advantages of its professionally run e-business
