Abstract :
The aim of this research is to analyse the determining factors for the success of the Korean mobile communications industry based on the CDMA technology. We argue that the determining factors of the success lie in the close co-operative working relationship between the government, the research institutes and the industries, the unprecedented establishment of the service commercialisation and the expansion of the CDMA market abroad. The researches of the CDMA technology development to date have focused on how and why Korea decided on CDMA as the national standard and how the technology development has proceeded. While this research has provided the analysis of the process of the political decision on selecting the technology standard, they have not analysed the prospect of the success of the Korean mobile communications industry based on the CDMA. This is because the technology development does not guarantee that all the technologies would be successful. In this research, we analyse the success factors of the Korean mobile communications industry based on CDMA technology
