Abstract :
A novel garnet single crystal with a composition of Tb3(Sc, Lu)2Al3O12 (TSLAG) is designed and fabricated to realize a large-scale crystal boule. 50 mm-diameter single crystal boule is grown by Czochralski (CZ) method without macro cracks. High optical transparency in the wavelength range of 400-1100 nm, and relatively high Verdet constant compared with Tb3Ga5O12 (TGG) are confirmed for TSLAG(111) bulk crystal. An optical isolator module using the TSLAG is also demonstrated to apply fiber lasers.
