Abstract
A novel wire-grid (WG) polarizer with air gaps in nanowires is proposed, and its optical characteristics were estimated by computational calculation. Transmittance of transverse-electric polarized light by the WG polarizer is low enough in the visible region (i.e., wavelengths of 450-650 nm). Extinction ratio of the proposed WG polarizer is increased 20% in comparison with that of a standard polarizer.
