Abstract
This work is based on the plenoptic camera or light field camera which captures information about the intensity of light in a scene as well as the direction that the light rays are traveling in space. We show that these properties allow us to use the camera to correct images distorted by high order aberrations what implies the possibility of correcting aberrated images without the need of wavefront sensors to detect aberrations or adaptive optics to correct them. We analyse first the ability of the camera to correct images affected by astigmatism and we will present experimental results to retrieve the retinal images in direct ophthalmoscopy.
