  • Abstract
    We focus our efforts on the refractive index and Abbe´s number improvements ofpolyester films. First, we modify polymers by introducing sulphonyl and decreasing phenyl groups in the monomer structure. By this manner, new synthesized polymers with Abbe´s number higher than 40 were synthesized. Then in order to further increase the refractive index and Abbe´s number, the polymers are hybridized with well-dispersed alumina nanoparticles. The fabricated polymer/alumina nanocomposite film has high refractive index (nD=1.58)/Abbe´s number (VD=55) combination, which can easily exceed the empirical "limiting line" of conventional optical polymers.
