  • Abstract
    Companies lost a lot of money owing to data quality problems. This because bad decisions based on incorrect information, breach of rules or the failure to deal with customer problems in a timely manner. Currently data have become one of the most important assets for the organizations. Thus, data quality is a concern that involves both information technology people and business people. In the context of the business process management, the early specification of data quality requirements can be a crucial factor. This article present the results of a research aimed at identifying the terminology used by the business people to express data quality issues. This is a first step to aim improve the communication between business experts and information technology experts. As a result we identified a list of 20 problems and 45 data quality characteristics.
