The interest of FACTS to improve voltage and losses reduction in the western Algerian network 2012

Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controllers have been mainly used for solving various power system steady state control problems. Flexible AC transmission systems or FACTS are devices which allow the flexible and dynamic control of power systems. The FACTS controllers improve quality of the supply power, enhance power system performance and also provide an optimal utilization of the existing resources. Especially the TCSC has been proposed to enhance the power transfer capability by adjusting the reactance of the line. This paper, present a study of the western network Algerian 2012. In addition, we will try to ask the problems encountered in practice, to find solutions and moving towards the FACTS devices in particular the TCSC controller, its application and technical advantage.
