Abstract :
Due to the low frame rate of the commercial image sensor widely used currently, the transmission rate of the optical camera communication (OCC) will be limited if binary modulation is employed. To tackle this issue, high-order modulation is introduced to the OCC. We provide the system diagram and the associated signal detection based on the cumulative distributed function (CDF) of the grey value in the region of interest (ROI). We also conduct experiments on the high-order modulation, to show the impact of various factors on the signal detection performance based on the grey value CDF, the pixel-wise grey value and the mean grey value, respectively. Experiment results show that high-order modulation serves as a good candidates for future OCC systems.
