  • Abstract
A Light pipe transport heat and light in a room which affects the energy balance of a room both negatively and positively. In this paper a modified integrator box experiment designed to investigate the thermal performance of a light pipe is described. The modified integrator box experiment uses two boxes, one box depicts a room without a light pipe and the other with a light pipe. Results from this experiment reveals that the box with the light pipe maintained a higher temperature that the box without light pipe during the day, thus confirming that the installation of a light pipe will affect the cooling needs of a room under a tropical climate. Also, an Ordinary Lease Squared Multiple Regression model that uses data from the current installation of a light pipe to predict room temperature before installation of light pipe is presented.
