Abstract
Projection algorithm is one of the techniques to deal with relationship between different models. It has lots of applications with 3D models. The most important application perhaps lies in 3D laser marking. However, 3D laser marking with multi-model projection with no distortion mapping and high precision is still an open problem. In this paper, a new projection algorithm with 3D models composed of STL (Stereo Lithography) triangular meshes is proposed.2D data may be mapped to any 3D models by using this new algorithm. Furthermore, to realize lossless projection, a mathematical model (self-defined model) is built by triangular meshes, which can make any graphics projecting onto 3D entity with the same size, angle and orientation. Compared with those traditional projection algorithms, this new one can solve texture projecting onto multi-model and texture mapping onto mathematical model without distortion and protecting the source data structure efficiently.
