Abstract
This paper proposes a combined control strategy using a sliding mode controller and a disturbance observer applied to the current control of the permanent magnet synchronous motor. This scheme provides the stator current decoupling in the synchronous reference frame dq, minimizing the non-modeled disturbances effect, parametric variations and the phenomenon chattering characteristic in sliding mode control. The stability of the proposed method was proved by the Lyapunov stability theory. Experimental results are presented for the theoretical validation of the proposed method and it shows better dynamic performance and robustness compared with a classic proportional-integral controller.
