  • Abstract
    A new power train topology for fuel cell based vehicles with electrical machines is introduced, including a new combined converter. A new direct energy conversion scheme is applied, reducing the contributing components to the standard power train setup while increasing efficiency due to direct energy conversion. Using this power train configuration, a standard inverter is used in parallel for energy conversion in terms of propulsion demands and charging aspects. For the first time power arising from a fuel cell stack and accumulator are converted at the same time with one standard power train inverter offering high efficiency and increased reliability.
