  • Abstract
This paper presents a simple carried-based discontinuous geometric modulation approach for three-phase voltage fed converters with multiple magnetically coupled legs. The proposed modulation technique produces multilevel equivalent PWM line-to-line output voltages with a reduced harmonic distortion. Moreover, it is proposed a mechanism to limit the circulating currents to acceptable values. It is important to mention that the implementation of the proposed modulation is straightforward, requiring neither a complex hardware nor a high development effort. Furthermore, simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the good performance of the proposed method.
