Abstract :
The need of controlled rectifiers to provide input power factor correction with reduced harmonic content drawn from ac mains and regulated dc output voltage has motivated the proposal of various topologies based on the classical converters such as boost and buck-boost topologies. Distinct control techniques have been also introduced with the commercial availability of integrated circuits (ICs) to accomplish this task. This work proposes a comparative study involving control techniques applied to high power factor rectifiers. Initially, it intends to present a review on previous works, which aims to analyze the well-known techniques in literature. Some remarkable strategies are then chosen in order to establish a comparative analysis in terms of the performance of an ac-dc converter, where aspects such as the ac input dc current, output voltage, harmonic content of the input current, and dynamic response are investigated.
