Abstract :
This paper presents the application of the recently published control based on the Space-Vector Fourier Transform (SVFT) to the current compensation of a conventional three-phase active power filter. This current control achieves a fast and precise tracking of specific positive- or negative-sequence harmonic components, characteristics inherited by the space-vector Fourier transform, which is a discrete Fourier transform suitable for detecting harmonic sequences of three-phase signals. Moreover, other advantages of the applied current control are: it is naturally a discrete-time control, avoiding problems related to discretization methods; it is possible to compensate multiple harmonics and sequences using only one controller; its recursive implementation presents low computational burden. Due to these characteristics, the SVFT-based control can be applied in an active power filter for compensating harmonic and unbalance current components typical of non-linear loads. In order to show the feasibility of the control strategy, simulations are performed and experimental results are obtained on a prototype.
