Abstract :
This work proposes the use of a modular topology for the design of a luminaire for street lighting based on LEDs. Such modular topology consists of multiple drivers, which make use of DC-DC converters for both power factor correction and power control stages. In the proposed topology each driver has its independent set of power LEDs, which makes the lamp more robust to the failure of one or more individual modules. The design of the electronic drivers is developed. Experimental results are performed for the proposed lighting system in order to show the feasibility of the idea.
