Chapter V the breakdown of dielectrics

During the year a valuable book was published, written by Swift and Acton¹, dealing with the theory and design of cold cathode discharge tubes. The book is largely based on post-graduate lectures given at The Northern Polytechnic, London; it contains much hitherto unpublished data and draws on extensive experience gained in an industrial laboratory.
