Abstract
High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) is one of the main disadvantages in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Among various PAPR reduction techniques, distortion-based techniques have attracted wide attention due to the simplicity and compatibility. However, these algorithms increase the error vector magnitude (EVM), and may violate the transmit mask. In this paper, we propose a low complexity PAPR reduction method using the basic pulse, which satisfies the constraints of EVM and transmit mask simultaneously. Compared with the optimized PAPR reduction technique, the proposed method has low complexity and high flexibility. Simulation results are presented for the IEEE 802.11ad standard, showing the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce the PAPR with the constraints of EVM and transmit mask.
