Abstract :
The spiral arrays are widely used to localize industrial sound sources. For the concerns of the hardware implement and the flexibility of the deployment, it is hard to use a spiral array with very large aperture to get the proper resolution when the frequencies of the signals are relatively low. In this paper, the compressive beamforming is utilized to improve the spatial resolution of the spiral array. The spectral project gradient for L1 minimization algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem. The experiment of localizing two coherent sound sources in a semi-anechoic chamber suggests that the compressive beamforming offers higher spatial resolution than the conventional beamforming.
