Abstract
In power electronic converters working with PWM discontinuous control loops is very often used. This paper analyses the implementation of a valley current mode (VCM) control in a bi-directional hybrid DC-DC converter (HBDC) used in renewable energy applications. Analytical descriptions, digital simulation and experimental results performed on a laboratory prototype are presented in order to prove the control operation in both power flow modes, emphasizing the transition between step-up and step-down regimes.
