Abstract
This paper proposes an adaptive target localization scheme in a bistatic ultra wideband (UWB) MIMO radar. The radar utilized a MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm to estimate time of arrival (TOA), direction of departure (DOD), and direction of arrival (DOA) at each frequency of the UWB signal and combines them using a majority decision. The proposed scheme improves the estimation accuracy by adaptively switching the localization methods-TOA/DOA-based and DOD/DOA-based-according to the target distance relative to the radar baseline.
