Abstract
In this article the concept of voltage drop, its characteristics within industrial electrical systems, causes and effects that cause shown. The voltage drop is described in a didactic concept and defines some of the causes of recurrence and need to understand for an analysis of a power system. The basic concepts that help to understand the impact of voltage drop are displayed. Also, are some of the main causes of this phenomenon and the effects arising from poor regulation of the voltage drop in industrial systems. Some typical methods used to optimize the voltage drop are also recommended. In addition, major international standards that provide the percentage of regulating voltage drop allowed exposed. The result of this article is to contribute to cognitive knowledge of specialists that are related to the issue of industrial electrical systems.
