Abstract :
In this paper the performance of the acoustic localization method based on TDOA is studied. The statistical source localization error of this algorithm is derived using Taylor-series expansion method. Compared with the theoretical presentation, the impacts of the time delay estimation error and the sensor node number on the localization error are demonstrated by several simulations. Besides, we study the influence of the relative position of the acoustic source and the sensor nodes. Guided by the theoretical and simulated results, a practical approach for distributed acoustic sensor network design is proposed.
