Abstract
Software has been well-adopted in language education. The aim of this paper is to explore the application of voice editing software in pronunciation education. After an illustration of the theoretical support for the application of voice editing software in pronunciation education, GoldWave has been investigated as an example of such voice editing software through its functions, target users and application scope in pronunciation education. GoldWave produces and edits audio files, and adds audio effects in the files for its target users, including teachers and learners, in on-and off-class activities to teach and learn pronunciation features of phonemes, linking, and incomplete explosion with visualized waveform. Comparison shows that GoldWave is easier to apply than some other voice editing software and more effective in pronunciation education than a portable recorder. This paper proposes future studies on effects of voice editing software in pronunciation education.
