Abstract :
In this paper, an improved fault location system based on traveling waves, which contains several innovative algorithms, has been proposed. In this improved system, the main influential factors such as the uncertainty of wave speed and the accuracy of transmission line length, which could affect the fault location results and generally are not of concern comprehensively in traditional systems, have been considered, and corresponding algorithms have been presented. Besides, innovative algorithms for promoted single ended location and automatic fault locating in teed circuit are proposed in this paper, comparatively there is no module for teed circuit in traditional systems generally. This system has been tested by an experimental system composed of traveling wave generator and high speed data acquisition system. The experimental results show that this system had improved the accuracy and reliability of fault location results significantly.
