Abstract :
The icing phenomena occurred in south China has seriously affected the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Some research results in this field has been reported in China and some other countries. However, there are rare results related to the parallel flash gap insulator ground icing network. This paper used the finite element analysis software to simulate the parallel gap distance icing flashover voltage, conducted icing tests to the RCSE 100C-2 insulator in artificial climate laboratory, and quantitative analyzed the impact of the parallel gap distance icing flashover voltage. The results show that flashover voltage shunt size and the gap size were intimately related after the icing bridge is formed up between the ground insulators. The flashover voltage was higher when the gap in parallel was larger, and the dry flashover voltage is higher than the wet flashover voltage in the same gap conditions.
