Abstract :
Microgrid has played a crucial role in solving problems caused by integration of distributed generation and therefore be comes an effective and efficient means for promoting renewable energy utilization and improving power supply reliability. This paper summarizes the key technologies and standardization needs for microgrid development and applications, based on the market needs and industry status. Some key features of a microgrid that distinguish it from traditional power grid and smart grid are de scribed. After review of the relevant activities currently under going in IEEE and IEC, recommendations for microgrid standardization based on the existing work are proposed.
