Abstract :
Due to fluctuation and randomness of wind speed, reliability of power system will be affected severely with increasing wind energy injected into power grid. In order to evaluate reliability of composite power system with wind farms, this paper proposes a new approach based on non-sequential Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and the cross-entropy (CE), the basic idea is to find an optimal distortion for probabilistic parameters of components using the CE concepts. A fault set based on linked list is utilized to enhance the retrieval speed as well. As a result, the computational efforts of the CE can be greatly reduced while retaining many of its main advantages. Comparisons with CE, and non-sequential MCS are carried out using the modifications of IEEE-RTS-79 (Reliability Test System) that include wind farm. The results demonstrate that the improved CE (ICE) method is of relatively high efficiency for reliability evaluation of composite power system with wind farms.
