Abstract :
Usually, home automation system has limited in terms of programmability and customization. Modular system is a common thing in the hardware design which is used to convert a complex design into smaller modules. This paper introduce a modular home automation system, where users could modify the system as their own design. This system has three main feature consists of electronic devices status, electronic devices control, and electronic devices automation. The hardware device consists of router, system controller, wireless communication module, microcontroller module to receive commands from the system controller, fan controller module, the lamp controller module, and IP camera. This system use android as user interface in smartphone. And this system use REST API server for database and WebSocket communication between android application and system controller. System controller used to send command through wireless network to electronic devices at home. The modular home automation system in this paper is implemented practically, tested and gave the correct and expected results.
