Abstract
In this paper a Single Fluid Heat Transfer System (SFHTS), were heating and cooling operations are performed by a single fluid, used by a pharmaceutical major company is considered. The essential objective is to eliminate overshoot and achieve set point in the shortest time possible. The system was modularized into Thermal Transfer Module and Level Control Module. Mathematical models of the same were developed and simulated using LabVIEW software. Tuned Proportional Integral, Proportional Integral Derivative, Sliding Mode and Feedback Linearization controllers were developed and applied to the Thermal Transfer Module, and Proportional Integral, Proportional Integral Derivative, Sliding Mode and First Order Sliding Mode controllers were developed and applied to the Level control module. The results showed that the Feedback Linearization controller and First Order Sliding mode controller provided the best control among their respective peers considered.
