Abstract :
An isolated wind-diesel hybrid system having permanent magnet induction generator for wind part and synchronous generator for diesel part is presented. A STATCOM with PID controller is connected at the PCC for reactive power control and compensation, when there is a 1% step increase in reactive power load. The mathematical model of the system used for simulation is based on small-signal analysis. The voltage fluctuation at the PCC under a constant wind speed and variable wind speed conditions are studied. Dynamic responses of the system with STATCOM having normally tuned PID controller, Fuzzy tuned-PID controller, ANFIS tuned PID controller are studied, modelled and responses are compared in MATLAB.
