Abstract :
Summary form only given. A widely tunable all-optical wavelength converter that operates without any external pump laser was demonstrated. The scheme was based on a double-ring fiber laser incorporating a semiconductor optical amplifier. Using broad-band orthogonal pumps four-wave mixing, a uniform (3-dB variation) conversion efficiency over a 40-nm conversion range is obtained
