Abstract :
We experimentally investigate the effect of the pulse side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) on the performance of self-seeded gain-switched (SSGS) pulse sources in a WDM-type system by examining how the received bit-error-rate (BER) of one channel is affected by varying the SMSR of adjacent channels. Our results show that any degradation in SMSR of the pulse sources may significantly affect the performance of the WDM system
