Abstract :
The task scheduling problem is considered for a general scenario wherein multiple systems are available to schedule a set of tasks prior to a specified deadline. Each task is associated with an execution time and resource consumption, both of which are allowed some degree of variability in their value in order to enhance the schedule flexibility. A scheduling algorithm is developed that uses prudent adjustment of the task parameters in order to accommodate more tasks while maintaining a balancing the system task load. A computational example is presented to demonstrate the behavior of the proposed method.
