Abstract
Automotive Components undergo EMC immunity test at very high severity levels. In some cases and for some families of products and subsystems the levels reach 600V/m. Testing is conducted at 1m distance following the layout described in ISO 11452-2 or SAE J1113/21 [1]. In this paper we introduce a new horn antenna that it is fitted with a special meta-material lens to focus the energy at the 1m distance. The antenna can generate the required fields with much less input power when compared to standard horn antennas. Numerical analysis is used to design the lens profile and measurements support the predictions of the numerical results.
