Abstract :
This work describes the CitationFinder, a knowledge-based system for the automatic classification of Web pages which contain citations of publications. The system counts on a knowledge base of production rules with associated certainty factors. It was constructed on the basis of a corpus of 1.000 sample pages and presented a very satisfactory performance: 88,6% precision and 97% recall for a test corpus of 300 pages
