Abstract :
Fossil fuel fired power generation causes harmful effect to environment. Distributed Generation (DG), using nonconventional renewable energy resources is environment friendly. Economic analysis to implement a micro-grid has been made by comparative study for different combinations of distributed energy resources (DERs). Biomass gasifier unit (BMGU), fuel cell (FC) and solar photovoltaic system (SPS) with battery energy storage system (BESS) are chosen as hybrid DERs. Optimal operation (OO) has also been found. A recently developed strong optimizer namely, Social Spider Optimization (SSO), has been selected to solve highly constrained optimization problem.
