Abstract
A multilevel Power converter structure is based on the concept of high power and medium voltage situations. Its concept is to use a series of power semiconductor switches with several lower voltage dc sources to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage waveform. Multilevel converter operates both in inverter and rectifier mode in a power electronic circuit. So, we are focusing on the multilevel Inverter. In this paper we are going to discuss about the motivation of multilevel inverters, it´s operating principle and modulation techniques. In this paper we will also discuss about the Total Harmonic Distortion of multilevel inverters which is less compared to two level inverters.
