Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. In this paper, the author attempts to identify the major players that have contributed to the development of California´s restructured electricity markets, and the players that have systematically attempted to dismantle it. In a pictorial essay, the paper builds upon a chessboard where the different players have positioned themselves, and there is speculation as to where all the maneuvering may lead.
