Abstract
We present the design of large mode area, leakage channel fiber with modified microstructured core and asymmetric cladding to achieve low bending loss and effectively single mode operation. The mode properties of the proposed fiber are investigated through finite element method (FEM) based solver (COMSOL) by applying appropriate perfectly matched layer (PML). The fiber attains an effective mode area of 1825 μm2 under straight condition and 1183 μm2 for a bending radius of 15 cm at 1064 nm operating wavelength.
