Abstract
This paper presents the performance characteristics of a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) under various operating conditions. This also explains the modeling of parallel equivalent circuit to evaluate the reactive power required for SEIG. The variation of terminal voltage has been studied by varying the shaft speed, capacitance value and load. The simulations are carried through MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, and the validation of the simulation results are established through an experimental set-up.
