Abstract :
In this presentation, we report a wireless motion monitoring system through a wearable wristband module integrated with a printed accelerometer. The wristband exercise module (WEM) is consisted of a customized printed circuit board (PCB) that converts capacitance data from the accelerometer and wirelessly transmits the data to the user interface to provide real-time exercise feedback to the user. Four different rubber band exercise postures were performed in this study to evaluate WEM´s performance. By monitoring the various exercises, WEM is capable of sensing the different exercise postures and providing reliable data that can be used to differentiate the exercise intensities in different postures. The WEM provides accurate exercise data and high level of freedom to users during the rubber band exercises suggesting its potential comfort usages in various motion monitoring.
