Abstract
A novel controllable reactor with extremely fast response is presented, which consists of parallel inductance branches connected in series with bipolar thyristors and has a compact structure. Formulae are provided for determination of reactor parameters. With an appropriate sequence control of the branch thyristors, harmonic currents can be maintained within the admissible level. For reactor construction, the architecture of the reactor is presented. Experimental tests have shown good performance of the developed reactor
