Abstract :
According to the structure of a current transformer insulated with SF6 gas, 3-D electric field distribution of a simplified structure model is calculated, the potential distribution graphs in different sections are presented, and the type and size of reasonable insulation structure are determined. It is concluded that as long as a suitable section is selected, the result calculated with 2-D field is similar to 3-D field. The design period can be reduced by 2-D field calculation in engineering
