Abstract :
The theme addressed in this issue, "Electromagnetic (EM) Attacks on Infrastructure," is of considerable current interest as virtually all large scale infrastructure developments rely increasingly on electrical supplies and electronic controls to provide continuity and quality of service. The possibility of deliberate attempts at degrading or denying such services cannot be ignored. The three papers following this introduction present work based in Europe aimed at understanding the nature of these EM threats and at reducing the risks to acceptable levels. I hope these articles will help to sensitize readers to the issues involved and the technical approaches to more resilient infrastructures.
